So you might be wondering why we made the decision to RV Full-Time. That’s a really great question, and we will get to that. First we want to share with you how all this started.
The Casual Mention
About a year or so ago, maybe even two years ago, Scott mentioned to me that he would like to travel and RV full-time. My initial thoughts were that it would be a lot of fun, but also…an RV? They only hold so much water, and what about my 30 minute HOT showers that I love do you not get? But I said, that we should look into it, but that was about as far as that conversation went.
Love of Hunting
Since that time, Scott discovered that he loves hunting, and is now on a deer lease. He purchased a used travel trailer from a neighbor to use while at the lease, it actually just stays there. It’s an older camper and definitely not anything we would actually live in, much less tow around the country, but it works great for deer camp.
The few times that he has needed to repair or replace something , we will head to the RV Store, and we (meaning Tina) always ends up looking at all the RVs, and usually once he gets what he needs, he will come and find me and look with me. We will talk about how we could totally live in one as we from one to the next. RVs today are so much more “livable” today than when I was a kid and traveling to Colorado with my family. Sure, the RVs of the 80s were fine for a couple weeks of vacation, or for weekends at the lake. My Uncle always had a really nice one, usually a fifth wheel. But again, this was about as far as the conversation went.
Time to Downsize
Over the last few months we have talked about how much we need to downsize into a smaller home. Maybe on a small piece of land or on a lake property. The house we are currently in, is just too much house for two people. We still have two of our kids living with use, but we are trying to get them to fly the coop!
Sometime after the holidays, Scott mentioned it again, and I cannot recall exactly how the conversation went, but we both arrived at the decision that we want to do this while we still are able to do so…so here we are.
You might still be wondering WHY? Well, my response is, WHY NOT? We plan to travel the US and Canada, and maybe even Mexico…knows where the road will take us!
